Our story
It started with a bad candle.
We bought one that smelled like a car air freshener and burned out in a weekend. So we learned to pour our own — and never stopped. Every Subterly batch is still made by hand, in runs of forty, in a converted garage in Portland.

How long does a candle actually burn?
About 45 hours for the 8 oz jar and 70 for the 16 oz. Trim the wick to 5 mm before each burn and you’ll get the full number.
Do you ship outside the US?
Yes — to Canada, the UK, and the EU. Duties are calculated at checkout so there is no surprise bill on delivery.
What if I don’t like the scent?
Burn it for 30 days. If it isn’t for you, we refund it or swap it for another scent — even if the jar is half gone.
Is the glass really recycled?
Every vessel is 100% post-consumer recycled glass, and the shipping box is unbleached kraft with paper tape. No plastic anywhere.
